We hope you will join us on our next pilgrimage to
Egypt in February 2027.
Egypt has always held a fascination for me, with the rich history of an ancient yet advanced civilisation, the Old Testament records of Joseph who rises to an important position in the government of the time, and Moses who leads the people of Israel out of slavery, as detailed in Exodus. We now have this wonderful opportunity to travel to this land and discover the rich treasures it holds along with a chance to reflect on the Biblical accounts and what God would wish to say to us in our modern day. We would like to invite you to come along as well!
Our 8 day trip will include all flights, 3 nights in Cairo and a chance to visit the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, the new Egypt museum, Memphis and Saqqara, home to the step pyramid of Djoser. After a short internal morning flight, we then enjoy a 4 night mix of relaxation and excursions from aboard a Nile Cruise ship, visiting Karnak, Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the Temples of Horus and Kom Ombo, Elephantine Island and the Aga Khan Mausoleum. A return internal flight and final chance to see Cairo Old City brings us to the end of the trip and the return flight home. Alongside the spiritual and pastoral leadership of Linda and myself, we will have the services of a local guide who will help us discover the sites and look after practical needs, as well as a good quality hotel in Cairo (on half board basis) and a beautiful cruise ship (full board basis). All air-conditioned coach transfers are included as well as entrance to all the sites we will visit.
We have found, after leading similar trips to Israel/Palestine, Greece and Turkey since 1991 that an equally important part of these trips is the fellowship we share and the friendships which develop. We are always a mixed bunch of people, many with Church and faith backgrounds from a variety of traditions, as well as some who don’t share that faith commitment but are welcomed equally in all we do.
The end of February is a great time to visit Egypt, avoiding the severe heat of later in the year yet with great weather and temperatures in the low 20s – ideal for touring.

Paul & Linda Snell
About us
Rev Paul Snell is a United Reformed Minister who has served for 22 years in local churches and for 15 years as a hospital chaplain, including 5 years part time as an Evangelism Enabler and communications Officer for the South West Synod of the URC. He then worked part time for 7 years as County Ecumenical Officer for Churches Together in Devon, until December 2024. Linda’s career was in nursing, finally working as a practice nurse until she retired in 2007 after contracting ME/CFS. We are parents to 3 children and Grandma and Gramps to 6 grandchildren. We live in mid Devon and are part of an active local parish church so have had wide ecumenical involvement including 15 years in a lively Baptist Church in Plymouth.
We love travelling and spend time in our motorhome each year, travelling in the UK and Europe. We also enjoy sharing places that we love, which are particularly linked with our Christian faith and have travelled to the Holy Land, leading pilgrimages since 1990. Paul spent 3 months on sabbatical there in 1993, researching and writing about reconciliation.
Because of the sad situation of conflict since October 2023, we have been unable to return there and the current war with Iran has made travel to Israel even more difficult. In October 2024, we led a group trip to Greece – In the Steps of St Paul and in October 2025 we travelled to Turkey visiting the Seven Churches of Revelation. We travel through the services of Maranatha Tours, a UK company with whom Paul has worked for over 35 years, and who have huge experience of living and travelling in the Middle East and beyond. We also use the land services of NET (Near East Travel), who have similar great experience and professionalism in all they provide.
