Itinerary Days 7-10

DAY 7 – Monday 13th March 2023. 

Gospel Galilee 
Tracing Jesus’ Lakeside Ministries visiting; 

Sailing Galilee – Start the day with a private sail in a wooden boat of the kind that the disciples may have used, stopping en-route for time to reflect and to see the shoreline highlights.

The ‘Jesus Boat’ – Dock at Nof Ginosar Kibbutz Museum to see a well preserved 1st century excavated boat from the Gospel period.

Magdala – On to the nearby fishing village home of Mary Magdalene.

Mount of Beatitudes – Ascend the hillside where Jesus taught the Beatitudes with its fine panorama of the sea.

Tabgha – Return to the shoreline where Jesus prepared breakfast for the disciples in his resurrection appearance. Then to see the mosaics in the Church of Multiplication.

Capernaum – See the ancient synagogue and ‘Peter’s House’ in the town that was Jesus’ Galilean centre.

Yardenit – Circumvent the sea by the eastern shores to close the day by the Jordan River and popular baptismal site.

DAY 8 – Tuesday 14th March 2023. 

Mt. Hermon and the Golan 
Most of the day by coach stopping at; 

The Golan & Hermon – Ascend the Golan Heights to stop in the region at Quinetra where Paul was converted on his ‘Road to Damascus’. 

Caesarea Philippi – Cross the Golan to the slopes of Mt. Hermon to the area where Jesus took the disciples and Peter made his great confession of faith – “you are the Christ”. 

Biblical Dan – Visit the old Biblical capital located on a nature reserve through which flows a tributary of the Jordan river. Enjoy a short walk through the site to the summit on the borders of ancient Phoenicia.

Mount Hermon

DAY 9 – Wednesday 15th March 2023. 

Regions of Galilee 
The day by coach with stops; 

Cana – The first stop is in the village where Jesus attended the wedding feast and turned the water into wine – visit one of the churches commemorating the event. 

Nazareth Town – Into the home town of the Holy Family and stop at Mary’s Well by the Orthodox Church before visiting the Church of Annunciation – built over the original village of Gospel days. 

The Nazareth Village – Lunch and guided tour of this ‘living museum’ depicting village and rural life in ancient days. 

Mount of Precipitation – Just outside Nazareth where tradition has it that here, the Elders attempted to throw Jesus off the cliff – impressive commanding views of the great Jezreel Valley. 

Mount Tabor – Ascend to the summit and traditional site of the Transfiguration of Christ. 

Dinner & Overnight by Galilee 

DAY 10 –Thursday 16th March 2023. 

The Via Maris/ Home Coming 
Stops en-route to the airport for the return flight; 

Megiddo – Departure after breakfast to stop at one of Solomon’s Chariot cities which controlled the ancient Via Maris trade route and the ‘Armageddon’ of Revelation. Walk through the city gates to see the grain silo and Ahab’s secret water tunnel. 

Caesarea Maritima – Lunch by the seashore. 

Herod’s massive sea port and capital visited by Peter, Philip and Paul – lunch, and time to walk the shoreline to the Palace location and the amphitheatre. Here, Cornelius became the first Gentile convert, initiating the Gospel westwards. 

Return Flight – On to Ben Gurion airport for the late afternoon return flight to London Heathrow. 

Anticipated flight from Tel Aviv Flight LY317 – depart at 17.15 – arrive Heathrow at 20.45 (all local times) – Israel is 2 hours ahead of UK time.
