This may seem a strange time to be thinking about overseas travel, but as we try to emerge from the grip of the pandemic with the vaccination programme under way, perhaps now is the time to be making some tentative plans for later in 2021.
I would like to invite you to join Linda and myself on a 10 day Holy Land trip 5-14 October 2021 which will include 4 nights in Jerusalem followed by 2 days in the Judean desert with a night in Beer Sheva, followed by 4 nights in Galilee. This is a fantastic opportunity to not only visit some of the main places we normally travel to but with the bonus of a desert excursion in the south, and a trip to the very north of the country in Galilee visiting Caesarea Philippi and Mount Hermon. In addition there is an opportunity to extend the trip by an extra 3 days on the shores of Galilee, relaxing by the lakeside and enjoying the nearby town of Tiberius.
Please note that because of the current Covid-19 pandemic, you are not expected at this uncertain stage to pay any deposit. We are planning this trip in the hope that travel will be safe by this October, so we are simply inviting expressions of interest. Once the situation becomes clearer and deposits need to be paid, you will be asked to pay a deposit of £200 per person, and will be able to withdraw your interest if you wish. If the numbers are not enough or the situation changes, the trip will not go ahead, so you are fully protected. You can use the print booking form or on-line booking to indicate your interest.
One of the best parts of a trip like this is the fellowship we share as a group on tour together, experiencing and sharing what we discover as we travel. The menu above gives all you need to know, including the price and other details and you can download the full brochure and booking form. I think you will agree it is great ‘value for money’ considering the high standard of accommodation, the inclusion of all entrance fees, a personal local guide and air conditioned coach.
The Holy Land has become a much loved place for me. My reading of the Bible has been transformed as a result and my understanding of the modern day situation of the Middle East has been enhanced. Throughout the 90’s I travelled every year to Israel/Palestine, spending a 3 month sabbatical living there in 1993. Having ministered in 3 URC churches over 25 years and then as a hospital chaplain for 15 years, I now work part time as County Ecumenical Officer for Churches Together in Devon and have a little more time to travel to one of my favourite places. Linda and I hope you will be able to travel with us later in 2021. If you have any questions or wish to discuss the trip, please get in touch via the contact form.
With every blessing
